An editable local-business theme with 16 core-block demo designs, system fonts and no required plugins.

== Description ==

Austin combines classic PHP templates with theme.json design tokens and editable core-block patterns. It includes 16 business demo designs and eight reusable section patterns. No page builder, companion plugin, external font service or booking service is required.

The theme respects your Reading settings and works with ordinary posts and pages. It creates no pages, posts, menus or widgets when activated. Your content stays in WordPress when you switch themes.

== Installation ==

1. In Appearance > Themes > Add Theme > Upload Theme, upload austin.zip.
2. Activate Austin. No plugins are required.
3. Create or edit a page and open the block editor's Patterns panel.
4. Insert a business home pattern or individual sections. Replace all sample business details, reviews, claims, hours and example.com addresses before publishing.
5. For a complete business home pattern, choose the Full-width landing page template. The pattern supplies its own editable heading, navigation and footer content.
6. Optionally choose your static homepage in Settings > Reading.

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= What do the Customizer switches do? =

Appearance > Customize > Austin pattern library controls which of the 17 pattern categories are offered in the editor. All are enabled by default. Save, then reload the editor. These are library preferences, so the Customizer frontend iframe has no corresponding visual state to preview.

Switching a category off never hides or deletes blocks you have already inserted. Edit or remove those sections in the page editor. Existing content keeps its styling even if its category is disabled.

= Do the contact layouts submit forms or book appointments? =

No. They contain editable sample contact information and links. Add your own details. Form processing, bookings, maps with external services and business databases belong in optional plugins and are not part of Austin.

= Why are some team images placeholders? =

Demo people and business details are fictional. Stock photos are decorative sample imagery and do not identify the sample businesses or team members. Replace them with your own licensed images before publishing.

= Can I use the patterns with another template? =

Yes. Reusable sections work in normal pages. A complete home pattern already contains an H1, so use the Full-width landing page template to avoid duplicating the standard page title. The landing template is intentionally an empty canvas until you add content.

= Does the theme fetch code, fonts or demo images from another service? =

No. Theme assets are bundled locally and use system font stacks. WordPress core behavior, such as embeds, Gravatars or the official pattern directory, is controlled by WordPress and your content/settings.

= What is a custom download? =

A marketing-site custom ZIP may contain only selected pattern groups. Its PHP is the same as the full theme; absent optional pattern files are supported. The complete WordPress.org distribution contains all patterns. The marketing-site builder is separate from this theme.
